International Yoga Day Celebrated by RC Raghunathgunj

International Yoga Day was celebrated in the Regional Centre Raghunathganj on 21st June 2015. As per the Regional Centre circular every staff member of the Regional Centre arrived at the RC venue at 6.30 AM as the programme was to start at 7.00 AM.


A serene environment on Banks of Bhagirathi (Ganga) river Canal nearby to the Regional Centre was selected for the occasion as the venue. However on reaching there, downpour started and every body had to rush back to the Regional Centre. At the Regional Centre the programme started with lighting of Deepak (Oil Lamp) and offering Prayer to the Mother Nature. Later Dr Somasi Srinivas, Regional Director spoke about Yoga, Yog and Health.


Being himself a certificate holder in Yog Abhyas, Dr Srinivas narrated in length various salient features of Yoga for the well being of human and nature and how different Asanas and Kriyas of Yoga are helpful in keeping the body healthy. The History and importance of Yogic kriyas in concentration and development of vital body organs and functions was discussed. Later all the staff members performed Pranayaam- Breathing and stretching exercises followed by meditation for about 30 Minutes.


After the exercises some of the staff members also exchanged their views. Every one complimented the present Government of India especially the Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi Ji for making Yoga an important icon for India at international level which made UN announce 21st June as the “INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY”.
It may be worth mentioning that the Regional Centre Raghunathganj has been organizing 30 minutes meditation session every day at the Regional Centre since Long Past for the healthy well being of staff members.


Being remotely located and ill communicated; no learner and LSC staff could attend the programme in the Regional Centre on the International Yoga Day.
The programme concluded with Vote of thanks and Extending Greetings and Compliments to the GoI by Sri Gopal Chanda, JAT. This was followed by distribution of refreshments which comprised of Fresh fruits and juice to all.
